Course objectives
The MAPN0712 Certificate of Professional Competence – Port Operations: Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment equips participants to carry out operations involving the loading, stowage, unloading, unstowage and transhipment of goods in a port environment, in accordance with established operating procedures and safety standards.
This certificate is aimed at professionals wishing to enter or specialise in the port stevedoring sector, one of the areas with the highest technical demands within the logistics and maritime-port sector.
Who it is aimed at
People interested in working in the field of port loading and unloading, as well as professionals who wish to have their skills officially recognised through a Level 2 vocational qualification.
Programme
The certificate comprises the following training modules:
*In accordance with sections 2 and 3 of Article 159 of the aforementioned Royal Decree 659/2023, the non-work-based professional placement module is distributed proportionally across the remaining professional modules based on the number of hours
Under the agreements signed with the CSP, MSC and AMP terminals, the Port Employment Centre (CPE) and the Shipping Association, students will undertake non-work-based placements in professional settings within the port sector.
Mechanical Operations Involving the Handling of Goods in Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment Activities.
Duration: 240 hours
Manual Goods Handling Operations in Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment Activities.
Duration: 100 hours
Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment of Dangerous Goods in Port Areas.
Duration: 30 hours
Technical Maritime English for Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment.
Duration: 80 hours
Non-Work-Based Professional Training Module in Port Operations: Loading, Stowage, Unloading, Unstowage and Transhipment.
Duration: 80 hours.
Teaching team
The teaching staff meet the professional competence requirements set by LABORA for delivering vocational qualifications, and are made up of professionals with extensive practical experience in the port sector.

Admission requirements:
To be eligible for a Level 2 Vocational Certificate, you must meet one of the following criteria:
A secondary school leaving certificate (ESO) or equivalent.
A Level 2 Vocational Certificate.
A Level 1 Vocational Certificate in the same occupational field.
Having passed the entrance exam for intermediate-level vocational training courses.
Having passed the university entrance exam for applicants aged over 25 or over 45.
Additional mandatory requirements:
No criminal record, as evidenced by a valid certificate.
Pass the medical examination organised by the institution, the cost of which must be paid by the student. The examination includes a drug test, which must be negative in order to participate in the course.
