  • The organisation will train professionals in the sector in accordance with the standards set out in the International PBIP Code and national regulations
  • The accredited programme comprises three specific face-to-face courses

Valencia, 13 October 2026. – The Fundación Valenciaport has received accreditation from Puertos del Estado to deliver three courses aimed at professionals responsible for the security of ports and port facilities. The programme includes initial training, refresher courses and preparation for staff with specific security duties.

This accreditation enables the institution to issue official certificates in line with international and national regulatory requirements. The organisation expects the first intakes for these programmes to begin in 2027.

“This accreditation from Puertos del Estado underpins our commitment to safety in the sector,” says Ana Rumbeu, Director of Training at the Fundación Valenciaport. “From 2027, professionals will have access to specialised, face-to-face training, focused on practical application and the latest technological tools, to ensure the efficient protection of our infrastructure.”

Three official face-to-face training pathways

In accordance with the approved training programme, the courses will be delivered using a highly practical, face-to-face methodology, combining theoretical sessions, case study analysis, technical visits to ports and final assessment tests.

The Port Facility Security Officer (OPIP) course, lasting 30 hours, is designed to train professionals who will be responsible for drawing up and implementing Port Facility Security Plans (PPIP), as well as for risk assessment, threat identification and the planning of emergency drills and exercises.

The 12-hour Port Facility Security Officer Refresher Course is aimed exclusively at practising professionals who need to renew their official certification within five years of its issue. This training enables them to update their knowledge of regulatory changes, technical and operational developments, risk reviews and the management of security plans.

Finally, the 18-hour course for Port Facility Personnel with Specific Security Duties is aimed at operational staff who carry out specific technical security tasks (access controls, cargo handling or response to threats) in accordance with the guidelines set out in the ISPS Code.

The official opening of the registration period, course fees and the detailed schedule of course dates for the 2027 academic year will be published on the Fundación Valenciaport website.
