The Electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) framework is the EU’s common system for the exchange of information between operators and competent authorities. By July 2027, all Member States must be prepared to accept transport data via compliant platforms.
The EXITO project places the eFTI Regulation at the heart of its strategy to develop it from a regulatory reporting mechanism (B2A) into a trusted digital infrastructure for European logistics. In line with Horizon Europe’s priorities on digitalisation, interoperability and the green transition, EXITO will expand the role of eFTI platforms to also support B2B data exchange and offer value-added services to SMEs, such as emissions calculation, collaborative logistics and the adoption of data spaces.
Based on the technical specifications of the eFTI Regulation, the project will develop and demonstrate a compliant, interoperable, secure and cost-effective logistics data space. These solutions will be co-designed with public authorities, operators and SMEs, and tested in real-world, multimodal and cross-border operational environments across several EU countries to ensure their adoption, scalability and long-term impact.
The main objectives of the project are:
- To transform the eFTI framework: To move beyond mere B2A regulatory compliance towards B2B data exchange and advanced services within supply chains.
- To develop a logistics data space: To create a secure, interoperable and low-cost ecosystem compliant with the eFTI Regulation.
- Integrating value-added services: Facilitating emissions calculation, collaborative logistics and the adoption of data spaces within the sector.
- Promoting the inclusion of SMEs: Designing tailored tools and access gateways to bridge the digital divide in transport.
- Validating through real-world scenarios: Demonstrating the platform’s effectiveness in multimodal and cross-border operational environments across the EU.
As for the Fundación Valenciaport, its key role centres on introducing a federated data space driven by the port sector, integrating a greenhouse gas emissions calculation engine (in accordance with ISO 14083 CountEmissionsEU) and advanced analytics for route optimisation and the reduction of empty runs.
